What Do Spots On Your Forehead Mean
Spots on your forehead are believed to indicate problems with the bladder or the digestive system, so if youre getting pimples here it could mean youre dehydrated or eating too many processed and high in sugar foods. The forehead is also linked to the nervous system, so high stress levels could be contributing to your breakouts.
Your Face Scrub Is Making Your Breakouts Worse
Not regularly exfoliating is one of the acne causes, yes, but if youre of the mindset that the more you scrub your skinwhether with a washcloth, rough acne face washes and face scrubs, loofahs, or cleansing brushesthe smoother it will be, Im here to tell you that your breakouts are only gonna get worse. The idea here is to repair your skins protective barrier to keep bacteria out, not cause further trauma by scrubbing the sh*t out of it.
The zit fix:
Your Cloth Face Mask Is Causing Maskne
If you’ve noticed more breakouts on your chin, jawline, and cheeks as a result of wearing your cloth face mask, you’re not just seeing things. Turns out, all that sweat, oil, bacteria, and humidity trapped under your face covering can create the perfect breeding ground for breakouts.
The zit fix:
The CDC recommends wearing face masks, so consider switching yours to one that’s made with a breathable fabric and stock up on a few so you always have a clean one ready to go. Oh, and if you’re not washing your face twice a day and your mask after each use, you’re doing it wrong. Remember all that oil and bacteria trapped between your face and your mask? Yeah, you don’t want to reintroduce that if you’re trying to avoid breakouts. And lastly, skip makeup. Since you’re covering your face, you won’t need to wear a heavy foundation underneath it that could cause clogged pores anyway.

What Is Acne And What Causes It
Acne is a condition of the skin that shows up as different types of bumps. These bumps can be blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, or cysts. Teens get acne because of the hormonal changes that come with puberty. If your parents had acne as teens, it’s more likely that you will, too. The good news is that, for most people, acne goes away almost completely by the time they are out of their teens.
The type of acne that a lot of teens get is called acne vulgaris . It usually shows up on the face, neck, shoulders, upper back, and chest.
The hair follicles, or pores, in your skin contain sebaceous glands . These glands make sebum, which is an oil that lubricates your hair and skin. Most of the time, the sebaceous glands make the right amount of sebum. As the body begins to mature and develop, though, hormones stimulate the sebaceous glands to make more sebum.
Pores become clogged if there is too much sebum and too many dead skin cells. Bacteria can then get trapped inside the pores and multiply. This causes swelling and redness the start of acne.
If a pore gets clogged up and closes but bulges out from the skin, you’re left with a whitehead. If a pore gets clogged up but stays open, the top surface can darken and you’re left with a blackhead. Sometimes the wall of the pore opens, allowing sebum, bacteria, and dead skin cells to make their way under the skin and you’re left with a small, red bump called a pimple .
Zone 9 & 10 Thigh And Legs
Associated with: Sensitive skin
According to some doctors, thigh and leg acne is more likely to be caused by external factors as opposed to internal factors which are more likely to effect the face.
Creams and body lotions can irritate the skin and cause skin sensitivities like acne in some people. Irritating types of clothing for this area of the body include pants and shorts that dont allow their legs to breathe.
Examples of this include leggings and tight fitting jeans, especially when worn in warmer climates.
Shaving can also cause ingrown hairs which cause blemishes like acne in that they are red and bumpy.

How Can Someone Fix These Issues
We must address our acne both internally and externally to reduce the amount of breakouts on our face and body. This means that just topically attacking this issue will not bring the best results possible as living an all around healthful life is necessary to have the best possible skin.
No matter where acne is on our face or body we should always be drinking enough water, eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, and have good hygiene. These things are common sense but are often overlooked even though they can make a big difference in the appearance of our skin.
Hormones and other internal issues can be a little trickier to combat as women especially are affected more by hormones than men as they have to deal with menstrual cycles, menopause, and pregnancy.
Men who take testosterone boosting drugs and supplements like steroids and prohormones also cause a hormonal imbalance as when testosterone is raised it causes androgenic effects such as oily skin and hair growth.
Interestingly, testosterone converts into estrogen in our bodies which means raising our testosterone levels also causes an imbalance in estrogen levels which is why men can grow breasts when taking anabolic steroids.
When boys reach puberty they also have a similar hormonal imbalance as when older men take steroids which is why they are known to suffer from acne.
Dont Bring Your Phone With You To The Bathroom
Its no secret that the bathroom is one of the germiest places. Between flushing the toilet and touching the faucet, your hands come into contact with many potentially bacteria-filled surfaces. Furthermore, its a good idea to leave your phone out of the bathroom or keep it in a closed bag if need be.

Acne Locations And Their Causes
Acne develops when the pores in the skin become clogged with dead skin cells and oil. The result is whiteheads and blackheads.
Bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes also play a role in the inflammation, which results in the red bumps that characterize acne.

Four Ways To Prevent Acne On Your Face
Wherever your breakouts tend to erupt, these general skincare tips can help:
- Stay clean: Wash your face once a day with a gentle cleanser.
- Favor foam: Dr. Kassouf recommends foaming cleansers rather than lotion cleansers since the suds are better at lifting oils and dirt from the skin.
- Exfoliate with care: If you scrub too aggressively, you might irritate your skin and make acne worse. Use exfoliating brushes or scrubs once or twice a week at most. If you have any irritation, back off, she says.
- Wash makeup brushes regularly: They can get gunked up with bacteria and oils, contributing to plugged pores. Try shampooing them every week or two with a gentle, fragrance-free shampoo.
We all have to take our lumps sometimes. But if you can read the clues in your breakouts, those lumps will hopefully be few and far between.

When Will I Start To See My Acne Clear Up
If you take care of your body day in and day out by following a good skin care routine, drinking plenty of water and eating healthy foods like vegetables, protein, and carbs containing fiber then you may see a change in existing breakouts as well as the amount of breakouts you get.
Diet is the most important factor as certain foods contain essential nutrients and vitamins which can help aid in reducing inflammation, redness, and help improve skin elasticity.
Why You Get Acne On The Forehead
If youve ever read a beauty blog or magazine, you know about the T-zone. Dr. Kassouf says the T-shaped area across your forehead and down the nose is a prime locale for classic blackheads and whiteheads. Thats because this area tends to have more oil glands than other parts of the face.
To treat T-zone acne, try:
- Salicylic acid: Available in lots of over-the-counter products, this ingredient helps break up dead skin cells and clear out pores, Dr. Kassouf says.
- Benzoyl peroxide: Another easy-to-find ingredient in OTC acne creams, this also helps clear plugged pores. But it can interact with some other topical acne treatments, so dont mix and match without talking to a doctor.
- Retinoids: Retinoids are effective acne fighters, Dr. Kassouf says. But they tend to work better as long-term maintenance than short-term spot treatments. Topical retinoid creams and lotions are available in prescription and OTC strength.
- Different hair products: Pimples along your hairline might be caused by your mousse or your favorite dry shampoo. Hair products tend to be very waxy and can build up at the hairline and cause flare-ups, Dr. Kassouf says. If you suspect your favorite hair product is to blame, focus it on the ends of your tresses and steer clear of your scalp.

Where You Get Acne On Your Body And What It Means
Similar to how mapping acne on your face can tell you what your pimples mean, mapping where you get pimples on your body can also tell you why you are breaking out, whether it’s pimples on your back, chest, or butt!
My Chinese medicine doctor, Dr. Wang Zheng Hu, says that while acne on the face and body can be caused by both internal and external factors, body acne is generally more external than it is internal. This is good news because it means that while body acne can caused by internal reasons, it can often be controlled and successfully cleared with external methods.
Foods To Eat For Clear Skin
“Eat green, green and more green! Eating foods as close to nature as possible, both to improve your appearance and feel healthy. Eat red meat, not more than once a week, and enjoy lean proteins such as turkey, wild fish , black beans, red beans, wild or brown rice , and nuts. The foods that keep you young are the same as those that keep you healthy: whole foods, with as little processing as possible.”

Whether you call them acne, pimples, or zits, those telltale red- or white-topped bumps can pop up just about anywhere on your body. One of the most common places to see breakouts is on your face, particularly along the oily T-zone that starts at your forehead and extends down your nose to your chin.
Unlike acne elsewhere on your face, the pimples that pop up along your chin or jawline tend to be solid bumps, not the typical pus-filled pimples. Treating them correctly, and avoiding picking at them, can prevent a temporary blemish from turning into a permanent scar.

Your Hair Products Are Clogging Your Pores
Those same pore-clogging moisturizing agents and sulfates that sneak their way into your skincare products can also be found in your shampoo, conditioner, and hairstyling formulas. And similar to how they can cause breakouts on your face, the ingredients can seep into the pores on your body and clog them, resulting in chest acne, back acne, and even pimples along your hairline or scalp acne, says Wright.
The zit fix:
First and foremost, switch to a sulfate-free shampoo already. Once you’ve moved on to the conditioning step, clip your hair up and off your back while you let the formula sit. When you rinse, tilt your head over and to the side to keep the potentially pore-clogging and acne-causing residue off your face, chest, and back.
