Apply A Targeted Spot Treatment
Benzoyl peroxide works by killing the propionibacteria acnes, or P. acnes . P. acnes cannot survive in oxygen-rich environments. By bringing oxygen to the pore, benzoyl peroxide kills the acne-causing bacteria and reduces the incidence of breakouts. Clinical studies cite benzoyl peroxide has a proven track record of safety and efficacy for the treatment of acne.
Note: Applying benzoyl peroxide every night may be a bit drying. For this reason, start with application every other day. Gradually increase or decrease your frequency depending on how severe your forehead acne is.
What Causes Pimples On Your Hairline
Pimples can show up along your hairline for one of these reasons:â
Hormonal changes.â Hormones can trigger glands in your skin to make too much oil, which makes you more likely to get acne and pimples. Changes in hormones, such as those that occur during puberty, menstrual cycles, and pregnancy, can contribute. â
Family history of acne. While acne isn’t caused by one specific gene, research shows that it tends to run in families. If one or both of your parents have it, you are more likely to get it, too.
Hair products. Many hair care items, from cleaning to styling products, contain oil and irritants. These oils can block your pores, which may lead to pimples.
Headwear. Hats, helmets, headbands, and bandanas can all trap sweat, dirt, dead skin cells, hair products, and oil against the skin near your hairline. The buildup makes pimples more likely to form in these areas.
Wearing makeup. Some cosmetics products, such as concealer and foundation, can clog the pores and lead to acne along the hairline. This particular type of acne is also called acne cosmetica.

Incorporate A Chemical Exfoliant

Chemical exfoliation works to quickly remove layers of dead skin cells to reveal a fresher layer of skin. There are various types of acids that you can exfoliate with. Two of the most popular are AHAs and BHAs . Products that contain BHA are ideal when looking to combat blackheads, blemishes, and enlarged pores.
Salicylic acid is oil soluble – meaning it can penetrate through oil to deeply exfoliate your pores. This process helps to clear away blemishes and diminish the size of pores. Additionally, the anti-aging properties of BHA deliver moisture to the skin to improve the overall complexion and brightness.

Can Ice Provide Relief For Cystic Acne
If you have a more painful area of the skin, icing is never a bad idea. I encourage patients to ice their skin for a variety of reasons from itch to pain, to even a painful lesion of acne. Should you decide to ice your skin, dont put ice directly on it because you can end up burning the skin. Wrap your ice pack in a washcloth or even a thicker paper towel first. Gentle icing for 10 minutes or so isnt a bad idea. If its causing more pain or the area is starting to go numb, stop immediately.

You might have to cut out all dairy products from your dietary regimen, including milk, yogurt, cheese, etc. Of course, this heavy restriction does not apply to all. It is for those of you, who have such acne-prone skin that the condition returns repeatedly, even after treatment. This is because milk and milk products throw bodily hormones out of balance.
Sugars and sweeteners are also enemies of your skin since they cause inflammation. Processed foods and beverages are also a big No-No if the bumps on your forehead refuse to disappear.

Which Products Help Treat Cystic Acne
Start with an oil-free cleanser
“Think of your cleanser not as a true wash, but rather as a short-contact therapy,” Dr. Zeichner suggests. For this reason, he typically recommends that patients with cystic acne use cleansers that contain high concentrations of salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid that helps shrink cystic pimples by removing excess oil, sloughing off dead skin cells, and drying them out.
Typically, salicylic acid concentrations range between 0.5 to two percent, and if you’re prone to cystic acne, Dr. Zeichner recommends looking for a cleanser that leans toward a higher concentration. A couple of great 1.5 to 2 percent salicylic acid-based cleansers include La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Acne Face Wash and Murad Clarifying Cleanser.
Dr. Zeichner says to apply the cleanser and let it sit while you sing the alphabet before rinsing it off. “The cleanser needs enough contact time with the skin for the active ingredients to exert their effects.”
Follow up with an oil-free moisturizer
Even if you’re prone to cystic acne, you should still use a facial moisturizer regularly in order to maintain a healthy skin barrier. “Patients who are prone to cystic breakouts should use oil-free, noncomedogenic moisturizers to hydrate their skin,” says Maryland-based board-certified dermatologist Ife Rodney, M.D.

What Causes Small Bumps On The Forehead

Now, are you wondering what triggered fungal acne in the first place, and why are you struggling with it?
Honestly, its completely fine and yeast grows on everyones skin. It only causes problems when it starts growing excessively or in an imbalanced way.
It flourishes in human sebum and this is why people in hot/humid countries are more prone to it.
Patients with diabetes, HIV, Hodgkins disease, organ or bone marrow transplant recipients, or those with nutritional disorders, neurotransmitter abnormalities, and immunologic deficiencies are more susceptible to Malassezia folliculitis .
Continuous use of broad-spectrum antibiotics escalates the growth of yeast in the body.
Similarly, birth control pills, pregnancy, steroids, immunosuppression, and stress can cause fungal acne.
Additionally, hot weather, sweating, high humidity, and some skin care products can make it look worse.

Bacterial acne is prevalent, especially in teenagers. Acne breakouts on the forehead are often caused by hair products or wearing helmets, baseball caps, or headbands that rub on the skin. The best topical treatment ingredient for this type of acne is benzoyl peroxide 2.5%.
Fungal acne on forehead
Fungal acne results from an overgrowth of yeast on the skin while this yeast is a regular guest to our skin, too much of it can lead to problems. Fungal acne breakouts often present themselves as papular acne One way to tell if your flare-up is fungal instead of “traditional” acne is if it’s itchy or if it occurs in uniform batches and groups.
Malassezia fungi feed off of oil to survive, so it is commonly found in the body’s oil-rich areas such as your forehead, chin, upper back, chest, and shoulders. When falling yeast from the scalp gets trapped along the hairline, it causes excess oil and sweat to build up in the area. This means skin cannot correctly exfoliate or retain moisture, sending the skin’s microbiome out of whack.
Those suffering from fungal acne should look for a cleanser that includes salicylic acid and green tea extracts – both of which help by exfoliating the skin and killing bacteria. Other good treatment options for fungal acne are benzoyl peroxide 2.5% and ketoconazole .

What Causes Acne On Your Forehead
The acne that affects your forehead is caused by the same factors as the acne that develops in other parts of your body.
All acne, whether its one or two small blackheads or a severe breakout of cystic acne, develops due to the same root causes — excessive secretion of sebum and the accumulation of dead skin cells on the surface of your skin.
Sebum is an oil-like substance thats produced and secreted by your sebaceous glands — small, oil-secreting glands that are connected to the hair follicles in your skin.
Your skin needs sebum in order to remain healthy. Sebum helps to seal moisture into your skin and prevent water loss. Its also a key component of your skins protective barrier, keeping your skin protected from damage and infection.
Your sebaceous glands release sebum into the hair canal, where it travels to the surface of your skin along the hair shaft.
When your sebaceous glands secrete the right amount of sebum, this process works smoothly to keep your skin smooth and healthy. However, when the sebaceous glands secrete too much sebum, the excess can become stuck inside the hair follicle, causing it to become clogged.
Hair follicles that are clogged with sebum may turn into acne lesions, with the specific type of acne varying based on the severity of the blockage and the presence of bacteria.
While sebum is a major factor in acne, whether on your forehead or elsewhere on your body, it isnt the only substance responsible for clogging your hair follicles.
