    You must get these fats from your diet, but research shows that most people who eat a standard Western diet dont get enough of them .

    Fish oils contain two main types of omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid .

    High levels of EPA and DHA have been shown to decrease inflammatory factors, which may reduce the risk of acne .

    In one study, 45 individuals with acne were given omega-3 fatty acid supplements containing both EPA and DHA daily. After 10 weeks, their acne decreased significantly .

    Theres no specific recommended daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids. The 20152020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends that healthy adults consume around 250 mg of combined EPA and DHA each day .

    But If You Must Do It Safely

    Theres a proper popping method, officially known as extraction.

    Most medical professionals dont encourage popping pimples, but many people do it anyway. Its best to have a dermatologist perform this.

    The best method involves applying a warm compress to open the pores and using clean Q-tips to gently push down on either side of the blackhead or whitehead.

    Its best not to attempt this with deeper acne types like pustules.

    Other Things That Bug Your Skin

    And by acne treatment, I mean any serums or gels with active ingredients , like the ones below:

Salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and niacinamide can usually be used daily , but start out using them every other night, gradually building your tolerance to every night and/or morning.

    If you chose to use a simple cleanser in step 1, here’s your chance to spot treat with the more powerful stuff.
