How To Use Epiduo Gel
Epiduo gel should be applied thinly once a day before going to bed.
Clean and dry the skin thoroughly before applying Epiduo. Use a mild cleanser and pat rather than rub the skin dry. Using clean fingertips, apply enough Epiduo to thinly cover the area affected by acne . Then wash your hands.
Don’t apply Epiduo to broken, sunburnt or sensitive areas of skin, or skin affected by eczema. Also take care to avoid getting it on your eyelids or lips, or in your eyes, nose or mouth. If you accidentally get the gel on these areas, wash it off with warm water.
If you want to apply moisturisers or cosmetics, wait until the Epiduo has been absorbed into your skin.
Don’t apply Epiduo more than once a day this won’t make it any more effective or work any quicker. It may also make your skin very red, irritated or scaly.
Can Cystic Acne Be Prevented
Cystic acne develops gradually from regular acne. Genetics plays a vital role in cystic acne development. Most people dont get cystic acne, for those who do its essential to lessen the extent of previous stages of acne formation.
Mild acne needs to be managed and alleviated so it doesnt progress to cystic acne. It is important not to pick at cystic acne because long term scarring is mostly induced by picking the pimples.

How Long Does It Take Epiduo Forte To Start Working
In general, a topical that contains benzoyl peroxide, like Epiduo Forte start to work after 4 to 6 weeks. Efficacy is based on the severity of your acne, the way you apply the gel/cream and other factors such as your diet. I would start with assessing the severity using an app like MDacne, learning how to prevent new pimples, how to cleanse your skin and how exactly to apply the anti-acne gels to your face. If there still no improvement after 3 months of use, you need to advise with a dermatologist.
There are actually 2 types of Epiduo. The regular Epiduo gel that contains Adapalene 0.1% and Benzoyl peroxide 2.5% and the Epiduo Forte that contains Adapalene 0.3% and Benzoyl peroxide 2.5%.
It seems that the main benefits that are derived from the Epiduo gels, is derived from the benzoyl peroxide. The Adapalene component seems to add very little to the anti-acne activity of the product, while significantly increasing side effects such as skin irritation and sun sensitivity. Thus, the best choice would be to start with a high-quality micronized benzoyl product-based solution. If you like to use Epiduo your better choice would be the lees irritating regular Epiduo gel.

How To Use Differin
Whether you get Differin as a gel or a cream, it should be applied to the affected area daily as long as you continue to suffer from acne. If your acne completely clears up, you can stop the treatment, but be aware that your acne may return at some point.
To apply Differin, take a pea-sized amount and spread it thinly across the affected area until it has been fully absorbed – if you don’t notice a difference a week or so, try applying a little more, but be careful. To avoid disrupting the effect, you should apply it in the evening before sleeping, and ideally after showering to clear your skin.
If you experience significant discomfort trying to spread the gel across the affected area, consider using the cream instead. Alternatively, apply a small amount of moisturiser to the area before applying a slightly larger amount of the gel. Make sure, however, the moisturiser you use is non-comedogenic, so it doesn’t make your acne worse and make sure it is fully absorbed into your skin before you apply the Differin gel.
Note that applying Differin will raise the affected skin’s sensitivity to UV light, so take steps to avoid exposure to direct sunlight or you’ll risk further skin damage. Keep the skin covered during the day or when around strong artificial UV light sources.

How To Use Adapalene
- Before you start the treatment, read the manufacturer’s printed information leaflet from inside the pack. It will give you more information about adapalene and will provide you with a full list of the side-effects which you may experience from using it.
- Apply adapalene exactly as your doctor tells you to. It is best if you wash and gently dry the affected areas of your skin before you apply adapalene. A general point is that you should apply it to all of the area where your spots occur and not just to each spot. It is usual to apply it once each day in the evening. You only need to apply a thin layer of cream or gel. Remember to wash your hands after you have finished applying the cream/gel.
- If you have recently been using a preparation for your acne that causes your skin to peel, allow your skin to recover for a few days before you start using adapalene.
- Do not use the cream/gel on any areas of your skin which are sunburnt or sore. Also, try to avoid getting it on the sensitive areas of your skin in or around your nostrils, your eyes and your mouth. Try not to let it build up in the folds or creases of your skin.

Cystic acne has a distinctive look. The next stage of whiteheads and blackheads progression are pustules where pus starts accumulating along the shaft of the hair.
The third stage of cystic acne formation are cysts where the pus accumulates in significant quantities near the hair shaft creating a pus-filled sack. After rupture and emptying of a cyst into underlying tissue, it becomes papule, bigger cysts develop nodules.
Because of undersurface skin damage. The skin during acne looks like the surface of the Moon: uneven, pitted, rough, with shallow and deep depressions and pimples in different stages.
Healing of cystic acne leads to scars formation. Scars can be – ice-pick , boxcar and rolling .

A New Treatment Paradigm
For years, the approach to topical acne management has involved a two-step process: first, improve active acne, then address any evident scarring. Even when we have employed energy-based devices, though they have been shown variously to affect both scarring and active acne lesions, the emphasis has often been on one aspect of the disease or the other.
The potential to make acne better and reduce scars at the same time is a new concept in topical therapy. Prescribers should now consider the potential to not only reduce but potentially improve the appearance of acne scars through the selective use of topical therapies. Topical retinoids are well established as first-line agents in the topical management of acne. Evidence that a topical retinoid such as adapalene may have the added effect of improving scars only adds to the list of potential benefits associated with these agents.
