Does Nuface Help With Acne

Are Microcurrent Facials Safe

NUFACE DUPE? TESTING NUOVALUCE ANTI-AGING DEVICE | $450 MICROCURRENT + RED LIGHT FOR ACNE SCARRING

According to James, its perfectly safe and effective to start having microcurrent facials in your twenties and continue throughout your adult life. However, there are a few people who should give it a miss.

If you have epilepsy, are diabetic or pregnant, or have heart issues , microcurrent facials would not be suitable, says James. Likewise, if you have chronic acne, microcurrent may stimulate the inflammation you have. However, a small spot here or there can be fine.

My Personal Experience With Microcurrent

I started using microcurrent technology back in the early 90s just a few years into my career as an esthetician. At that time, it was only available to professionals through what was known as anelectrical muscle stimulation machine.

I liked the results I saw from using microcurrent on clients from the get-go, but I really became aware of its amazing muscle-strengthening abilities when I used it on a client who had developed Bells Palsy. Bells Palsy is a condition that causes temporary weakness or paralysis of facial muscles, making just one side of the face droop. I suggested to my client we start microcurrent treatments on the one side of her face where it had been paralyzed in order to strengthen and re-train the muscles in her face. The muscles rebounded soooooo quickly that even her doctor was shocked and started sending me many of his patients experiencing Bells Palsy!

Heres a picture of one of the first commercially available microcurrent machines, and I was proud to be an early adopter!

This particular machine was created by Carol Cole, who later co-founded NuFace with her daughter, Tera. They popularized at-home microcurrent treatments with the NuFace Trinity, which is the device I use on myself at home. There are more microcurrent devices available now from brands like Foreo and Ziip, but this is the OG and the one I have personal experience with.

How To Use The Nuskin Galvanic Spa

Each of the different attachments is designed to be used with a specific NuSkin gel or serum. For example, the Face Conductor needs to be used with NuSkins facial gels.

Both the Pre-Treatment and Treatment gels are included within the pack. It is recommended that you use the device 2-3 times a week with each session taking around 5 minutes.

  • After cleansing your skin, begin with the Pre-Treat Gel that comes in a small vial.
  • Spread most of the gel on your face and then place a small pea-sized amount on the back of your Galvanic Spa device. This helps the machine push the product into your skin.
  • Next, you need to select the appropriate setting for the product you are using. The correct setting is all in your owners manual.
  • Then place it on your skin and you will hear three beeps and then a beep every 10 seconds. If it does stop beeping at any time then you may need more gel.
  • Simply move the device around your face, moving both upwards and downwards.
  • In areas where you have impurities, you can hold the device in place.
  • The device will start to beep when you are 30 seconds from the end of your session.
  • After you have used the Pre-Treatment gel you repeat the steps with the Treatment Gel the device needs to be set to setting three before you continue.
  • The Treatment Gel will pull out the impurities from your skin while delivering the active ingredients to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

My Second Nuface Mini Review: More Of The Same

Almost a year later, my second NuFACE Mini arrived in the mail. And again, I was impressed by the results after the first use. The NuFACE really does a great job of lifting and tightening without pain or discomfort. I felt such confidence, my face looked younger and more rested.

And again, three months into owning my second NuFACE, it became possessed. It wouldn’t turn on when I wanted to use it, but would start beeping with lights flashing in the middle of the night, even if it hadn’t been charged for a week. Again, I returned the nuFACE, glad I purchased it somewhere with a lenient return policy.

    The Results: Sculpted Cheekbones

It only took a few sessions with my Trinity to realize how much I really looked forward to the soothing massage along my cheekbones and TMJ-addled jaw. This alone ended up being the perfect carrot to lure me through a few weeks of daily usewhen, while taking selfies for another story, I realized that my cheeks looked suspiciously high and sculpted my nasolabial folds had all but disappeared.

It was when the vague compliments began pouring inthe I cant tell whats different but you look great varietal that we beauty editors view as our holy grailthat I realized I had been sleeping on a really great thing this whole time.

And Im still not entirely positive why that is. Its not for lack of expert endorsementRenée Rouleau is one of several high-profile estheticians and makeup artists who have attested to the virtues of NuFace, joining the ranks of Bobbi Brown and Joanna Vargas.

But perhaps in the face of a skincare marketing landscape that grows more cluttered with hollow promises by the second, what I really needed was the assurance that my Trinity was really an outlierthat, as Rouleau mentioned, Id find the results to be worth the time spent pressing the device into my skin every morning. Either way, Ill just say this: Despite several years of sheer ignorance that stood in our way, my cheekbones and I are happy to finally be here.

    Red Light Therapy Devices

Red light therapy devices have increased in popularity in recent years as an easy-to-use and non-invasive anti-aging treatment that can be done at home6. Devices range from smaller, concentrated treatment attachments to wearable masks and full-body panels.

Red light therapy devices are regulated by the FDA in the US and international governing bodies globally, which enforce the highest standards for safety and require rigorous testing to gain clearance to be sold. However, not all devices sold into the market are cleared by the FDA and meet these international safety standards.

Clinical studies are commitments made by companies to show the true efficacy of their devices usedall studies are monitored and performed by professionals, such as dermatologists, to maintain the validity of the product.

  • Everything You Want To Know About The Nuface

Youve seen NuFace all over the internet and the incredible, sometimes unbelievable results. But…does it really work? How!? Whats the best one to buy? Our editors, and NuFACE devotees have the answers to all your questions, from microcurrents, gels and routines.

What is NuFACE?: NuFACE is an award-winning, clinically-proven skincare technology brand whose products deliver the benefits of professional microcurrent treatment for use at-home. Microcurrent technology has been around for decades and previously only offered at spas and medical facilities. The brand was developed by estheticians to mimic the type of treatment you might get during a facial. At-home devices, like NuFACE, are FDA approved and rigorously tested making them completely safe for at-home use. The brand is most known for their facial microcurrent toning devices the NuFACE Trinity and NuFACE Mini, which address multiple signs of aging both instantly and over time.

How does microcurrent work?: Microcurrents are low-level pulsating currents of electricity that stimulate facial muscles, which encourages the production of collagen and elastin structural proteins in our skin that naturally deplete as we age, resulting in sagging skin, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. By stimulating those muscles, it will energize and strengthen the cells and improve contour, tighten the skin and provide an overall lifting effect. You can think of it like how exercise strengthens and tones your muscles.

    Does The Nuface Actually Work

So Alison, this is all fine and good, but does the NuFACE actually work?

I completely forgot I texted this picture to my friends back in March to show how it works. So yes, there is a photo of the before and after. I did my left side of the face in this picture, my forehead is all shiny from the gel you use with the device.

Before writing this review, I used the NuFACE mini daily for over two weeks before sharing my thoughts. It frustrates me to read glowing reviews on items and then find the person only used it long enough for the glamour shots in their bathroom. I wanted to be sure I gave the NuFACE enough time, and I could honestly see lasting results before ranting or raving.

Yes, the NuFACE Mini does work. It worked really well on me. I could do one side of my face and it would look as though I was half-smirking and raising one eyebrow. It reduced the furrows on my forehead and makes my jawline more pronounced. My skin in general looked healthier, not so dry, not so flat. I found the results could last up to 48 hours, and the longer I used it, the longer the results lasted.

I would do the 5-minute treatment most days and when I had time, would go more in-depth and do it for about 15 minutes. But even five minutes fives times a week will be enough that people will ask if you’ve gotten more sleep, maybe lost a couple of pounds, changed your makeup. That subtle something different .

Could Microcurrent Facials Be Your Secret Weapon Against Acne

NUFACE // Nuface with Dermal Fillers and Botox

Ever since Juhea gave the NuFACE a whirl and experienced great results, Ive had microcurrent facials and at-home devices on my radar. With some positing that in-office microcurrent facials will eventually replace botox as a less invasive procedure with more natural-looking results, this trend may be here to stay.

Using two nodes, emitting positive and negative currents, a microcurrent device aims to stimulate the facial muscles and the production of ATP to boost the production of collagen and elastin while giving the muscles, and therefore the face, a toned, lifted appearance. Research on the effectiveness of microcurrent technology is still underway, so its understandable that some medical professionals may speak only to thoroughly evaluated skin-overhauling treatments .

The growing popularity of both in-office microcurrent procedures and at-home devices, however, suggests that something is really working. Users report immediatethough subtle and possibly fleetingresults as well as more long-term, long-lasting results

Theres also been a bit of buzz about microcurrent technologys additional potential benefitsincluding fighting acne!

Melanie Simon, founder of ZIIP Beauty , told Into the Gloss, Bacteria puts off a positive charge, so a negative current kills all of that. Sometimes it will physically pull out the bacterialike, a blackhead may come out of your face.

    It Helps Strengthen Your Ligaments

I mentioned this in my previous post too when discussing saggy skin . Because weakened ligaments are a contributing factor.

Gladly, since microcurrent help with energizing all cells and has a positive effect on healing. It actually helps strengthen those ligaments and prevent further sagginess.

There is also some studies indicating microcurrent might help with bone formation. This can be an extra bonus effect since strong facial bones are crucial for a face to look younger for longer. See my post about facial bone loss to learn more.

In short. By using microcurrent you will counteract saggy skin by restoring volume and tighten your skin. You will also increase the production of collagen and elastin for long term effects on wrinkles and fine lines. And on top of that, you get a radiant glow, less acne, and better skin health in general.

A bonus effect of using microcurrent on your skin is that it increases the uptake of any skincare serum you might use underneath the conductive gel.

How Does Microcurrent Work And What Will It Do For Me

Microcurrent is a low-level electrical current meant to simulate the currents that naturally run through your body. The waves it gives off are able to penetrate through your skin and into your muscles. Because microcurrent works to strengthen muscles, its often described as a workout for your face.

What Happened When I Used The Nuface

First I read through the short instruction booklet with helpful illustrations and charged the device overnight so itd be ready to go. Then I followed a couple steps:

    Step 1: Cleanse face

I used a micellar water on a cotton pad.

Step 2: Apply the gel primer

Youll want about four times whats shown here for your whole facethis amount is for one cheek. Ill use more to do one side of my forehead, and then later Ill do the second half of my face.

The primer is a clear goop thatll ensure the microcurrents are delivered to your facial muscles.

Step 3: Turn on and go

Starting with one cheek, I moved the device across my face slowly, using the beeps every five seconds to tell me when to move to the next area. The instruction booklets illustrations show you the movements to do: three on your cheek and three on your forehead . Then I washed my face, gooped up the other side, and repeated.

    How To Use Nuface

Does Water Helps To Clear Acne?

Quite the claim, so I initially treated just one side of my face to see the difference.

After cleansing, I applied a custard-thick layer of the NuFace Primer Gel. .

I rolled the NuFace Trinity Facial Toning Device upwards three times from chin to ear. Then from the lower cheek to the hairline and finally upward above the brow. Then repeated the sequence for the 20-minute treatment.

A post shared by NuFACE on Feb 20, 2020 at 4:54pm PST

The idea is that the two metallic spheres at the tip of the NuFace device work together to create a current. This, in turn, sends low-level electricity into the skin.

FYI you can barely feel anything aside from the pleasantly cooling sensation of the metallic spheres hoiking up your skin.

The currents are completely painless, too, unless you happen to roll over a patch with no gel on it. But even then its no worse than a short, sharp snap from an elastic band.

What Are The Benefits Of Microcurrent

As the mild electrical pulses stimulate your facial muscles, they create a more toned and lifted appearance with regular use just like a sculpting gym workout for your face. However, this isnt the only reason to get to grips with microcurrent.

Microcurrents main benefits go far beyond that of just a lift: it also boosts circulation, enhances penetration of skincare products, and stimulates collagen and elastin production. It even stimulates ATP , which is essentially muscle energy: its responsible for a number of key processes, such as photosynthesis, muscle re-education, and protein synthesis, says James.

    Unfortunately A Negative Nuface Review

I was reading Bobbi Brownâs interview with Into the Gloss and she mentioned she used a NuFACE device. I follow and she looks great â she doesnât look 25, but she glows and looks healthy and well cared for. I am over 40 and seeing gravity affect my skin I ordered a NuFACE mini device hoping for the same results as Bobbi Brown. I didn’t want to write this negative nuFACE review but I pride myself on being honest on Wardrobe Oxygen.

This NuFACE review was originally published in 2016, but has been updated as I ordered from NuFACE two more times and wanted to share my thoughts on those devices, and why I still have this as a negative NuFACE review.

How Do I Use A Microcurrent Device With My Skincare Routine

Shocking My Facial Muscles? BEFORE AND AFTER HOW TO USE THE NUFACE MICROCURRENT MACHINE

The cool thing about a microcurrent device is that it can complement your existing skincare routine to give you additional results above and beyond just topical products. While a well-rounded routine for your skin type should always be your first defense against visible skin aging, microcurrent takes it a step further by addressing the muscle underneath. Think of this as the scaffolding for your skin. By keeping the foundation strong, you help support the skin on top.

Hi Ann,I read all of your article and I end up buying a ziip. I just got my ZIIP yesterday . I wonder we can do many treatments a day. Can you recommend how to choose as it is so many treatments in the app . Thank you

  • Ann20 Sep 2021Reply

Hi Bambi! And congratulation to your Ziip! Yes, you can do many treatments per day. I like to do several, depending on how much time I have that day Since you are just starting out I would recommend you try 1-2 treatments per day. Just to get used to the device. And take a day off every once in a while. Then you can add on more programs if you want to, depending on your skin and concern. For example, I love to use the sculpt and lift, followed by the Nano current , and then the vital eyes. But I also like to alternate with other combinations. Instant gratification and energise are super too!

Let me know if you have any special concerns and I can give you some ideas

Also, if you are using the acne-program. Make sure to not do that one too often.
