Best Cerave Day Product For Acne
If you are using a retinol serum, a moisturizer with sunscreen is essential. This is because retinol makes the skin more sensitive to sunlight. The CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen is an excellent non-comedogenic moisturizer with SPF. The product contains a broad spectrum SPF 25 which protects against both UVA and UVB rays.
The CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion was created with acne sufferers in mind. It is non-comedogenic, so it wont clog pores or cause acne flare ups. It also contains hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and ceramides to protect the skins barrier and keep it moisturized.
What Is The Ideal Time To Leave The Cerave Foaming Cleanser On The Face
When you use the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser, gently massage it onto your skin in a circular motion. Leave it on your skin for about one to three minutes to give time for the cleanser to do its work. However, make it a point to not leave the cleanser on your face for more than three minutes as it may cause skin reactions.
Its A Great Choice For Sensitive Skin
Since CeraVe looks so much like other drugstore facial cleansers, I asked Texas-based dermatologist Dr. Adam Mamelak what makes CeraVe such a popular choice. He told me itâs a great choice if youâre looking for a gentle cleanser thatâs specifically designed for sensitive skin.
According to Mamelak, the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser has a few key ingredients that make it stand out from the pack. The formula includes hyaluronic acid for extra hydration, ceramides to protect the skinâs natural barrier and nicotinamide to soothe and provide anti-redness and anti-inflammatory properties.
Since I split my time between Montana and Arizona , and I struggle with breakouts, I loved that CeraVe has some additional moisturizing benefits. My only complaints? It was definitely a bit too childproof when it came to releasing the pump for the first time. Also, it doesnât foam quite as much as Iâd like. I was hoping for a bubble bath for my face, but these bubbles arenât the kind you can build beards out of.

Be sure to change your sheets and pillow cases regularly as these can collect oil, dead skin cells, bacteria and residue from hair, skin and body products. Opt for a moisturiser thats oil free, like Cetaphil moisturising lotion as this wont aggravate your bacne.
Washing your hair more regularly or showering straight after the gym may be simple fixes but for that pesky bacne, ch-acne or n-acne that just wont seem to go away, you should look out for products containing salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid or tea tree oil.
Salicylic acid is a BHA that acts as a chemical exfoliant to unclog pores deeper than the surface. Benzoyl peroxide dries out the skin and kills bacteria but may bleach clothing or sheets.
Glycolic acid gently targets the surface layer of your skin to remove dead skin and increase cell turn over. Tea tree oil works as an antiseptic. Scrubs and buffers can be too abrasive and may actually aggravate the spots and make them more inflamed and long-lasting.
Dr Catherine Borysiewicz, Consultant Dermatologist at the Cadogan Clinic advises that Everyones skin will respond in a slightly different way to each of these approaches and getting the right product for you can make a big difference.

Which Cerave Cleanser Is Best For Oily Skin
Its true that which cerave cleanser is best for me can differ depending on what skin type you have.
If you suffer from oily or combination skin, this gentle foaming face wash might be the answer to your prayers as it will remove any excess oil and makeup without stripping natural oils which contribute to healthy-looking skin.
This product would also work well with those who want a deeper clean feeling while still maintaining an extra-gentle formula that wont irritate sensitive complexions or leave them feeling tight and dry like many other products are known to do.
Cerave Ingredients The Evidence
Benzoyl peroxide is a chemical compound that is used as medication in the treatment of mild to moderate acne. Topical application of benzoyl peroxide reduces acne-causing bacteria and causes the skin to dry and peel off. However, you should consult your doctor before using it since it may cause allergic reactions.
According to the StatPearls journal, topical application of products that contain benzoyl peroxide helps in the treatment of acne vulgaris.

Ceramides help create a barrier on the skin to prevent permeability. They naturally moisturize the skin by creating a barrier that protects the skin and prevents moisture loss. Ceramides play an essential role in fighting skin aging, dehydration, and dryness. They also protect the skin against environmental aggressors.
A publication in the National Library of Medicine claims that ceramides are epidermal lipids that help improve the skins barrier.
Salicylic acid is beneficial to individuals with acne-prone or oily skin. It reduces blemishes, improves skin appearance, and prevents further breakouts. CeraVe acne cleansers contain salicylic acid that deeply penetrates the skin, clears clogged pores, loosens dead skin cells, reduces sebum secretion, and calms inflammation.

This American, dermatologist-founded skincare brand finally arrived in the UK in 2018, much to the excitement of avid fans including skincare expert Caroline Hirons. It joins the likes of The Ordinary and The Inkey List in its pared back, science-led approach, focusing on the efficacy of ingredients rather than luxurious packaging and exaggerated marketing.
Many of the brands products are suited to sensitive skin, which was music to my ears, and although the brand is regularly recommended by dermatologists, it reached a new found cult status in the UK during lockdown, as TikTok users raved about the products for their results and accessibility.
Although CeraVe was on my radar, I hadnt tried its products until late last year when my skin was in the depths of a lockdown 2.0 breakout. Its smoothing cleanser is infused with salicylic acid, a hero ingredient for oily skin that gently exfoliates, unclogs pores and reduces inflammation and redness. Its part of the beta hydroxy family, which in layman’s terms means it is brilliant at deeply penetrating the pores without causing the irritation that other acids can often cause. It can also help to reduce sebum production, helping to reduce acne, and can calm down the skin during a particularly bad breakout too.

What Are The Key Ingredients In Cerave Healing Ointment
The active ingredient in CeraVe Healing Ointment is 46.5% petrolatum. You may recognize this ingredient because it is the ingredient used in Vaseline . Petrolatum is an occlusive agent that reduces the rate of water loss through skin. Since petrolatum has a melting point that is close to body temperature, it softens upon application and forms a water-repellant film around the applied area. The film prevents evaporation of the skins natural moisture and increases skin hydration by causing buildup of water in the stratum corneum . This can also help if the skin is injured since petrolatum can protect the skin and replicate the occlusive properties of the stratum corneum.
In addition to petrolatum, the CeraVe Healing Ointment formula includes two additional occlusive emollients: mineral oil and paraffin. Mineral oil is a clear, odorless oil derived from a mineral source, typically a distillate of petroleum. Liquid paraffin is a very highly refined mineral oil. Both of these ingredients work by forming a film on the skin that acts as a water resistant barrier and helps to prevent evaporation of the skins natural moisture, similar to petrolatum. While all skin types can benefit from emollients like mineral oil and paraffin, emollients are especially helpful for those who have dry, rough, and/or flaky skin. Emollients can alleviate these symptoms, leaving the skin looking and feeling soft and smooth.

About My Skin: Not Too Dry And Acne
In the winter, the skin on my body and hands tends to get very dry and flaky. The summer is a different storyas long as Im drinking water, nothing seems to dry it outbut since my daughter was born at the end of 2019, Ive dealt with annoying hormonal acne every month.
About eight years ago, I had a sulfur-based cleanser clear up another bout of acne, and Ive been clinging to it ever since. My dermatologist insists it isnt doing much for me anymore and has been recommending brands like CeraVe and Cetaphil as an alternative. So when the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser Bar showed up at my door and I realized it was made with a non-comedogenic formula that promised not to clog pores, I decided to give it a go.
Cerave Am Facial Moisturizing Lotion With Spf 30
“I always remind my patients of the importance of wearing a moisturizer, even for those with acne-prone skin,” says Dr. Garshick. This light lotion is great for everyday use, since it’s non-comedogenic and will effectively moisturize skin without clogging pores or feeling greasy. Plus, it’s got SPF 30, which is another important element in any acne-fighting routine. “Those with acne should always remember to wear sunscreen regularly as some ingredients to treat acne may make the skin more sensitive to the sun, and it is known that blemishes and dark spots left behind from acne can become darker with sun exposure,” says Dr. Garshick.

How To Use The Cleanser
- You should by making your skin wet. Then apply a suitable amount of the cleanser to the skin
- After that Massage your skin gently
- Use lukewarm water to rinse the cleanser and then pay your skin dry
Depending on the type of your skin you can use the Cleanser for up two times a day. You can use it in the morning and in the evening.
The Acne Control Cleanser with 2% Salicylic Acid is one of the brands newest launches.
The product is ideal for gentle exfoliation of dead skin cells that could be clogging your pores and contributing to acne.
Salicylic acid is an oil-soluble ingredient that can cut through the superficial skin oil and travel deeper into the pores to dissolve the gunk and debris and unclog them from within.
Besides that, the foaming cleanser also contains hyaluronic acid to help retain moisture into the skin and not dehydrate it too much while cleansing, alongside barrier-repairing ceramides and soothing niacinamide to further help reduce acne and balance out oil production.
However, even though all these are great ingredients, unfortunately, they wont do that much in a cleanser because they work better when left on the skin for a longer period of time.
Which is why its always better to use them in a leave-on product such as a toner or a serum and give them time to act, but if you are on a budget and you dont have the time or the need for a full regimen, this cleanser may get the job done.
Best for oily, acne-prone skin.
